The best laid plans, you know the rest. Atticus (10) and Roman (8) were
booked to fly together from Paris to Montreal in mid-July, the week before
they were to spend a week at Dovercourt Day Camp. The night before
departure,  Roman was hospitalized with a burst appendix. Atticus came
as planned, on his own, but Roman spent the next five days in the hospital
and another week at home recuperating. Roman missed out on Day Camp but
Atticus and his cousin Gavin (12), Ross’s youngest son both had a great time
at Day Camp. Atticus was in Soccer camp and Gavin enjoyed his Boys Only
activities. After receiving a good report on Roman’s recovery, Erica joined
us mid-way that week.

Finally Roman and his father, Andrew
Auerbach, flew to Ottawa just in time to join us and all of Ross’s family
for the first week of August at a cottage on Black Donald Lake, near Ottawa.
We all enjoyed the cottage. It was large enough to accommodate all 11 of us,
the water was just the right temperature and there were short walks to take
nearby.

We took Gavin back
with us to Ottawa in order for him to attend another week at Dovercourt Day
Camp, this time for Lego Robotics. To give their parents a break, Atticus
and Roman also came to Ottawa after the cottage before joining their parents
a few days later in Montreal. We had a good time with all the boys before
delivering them to their parents mid-week.
It was a busy time for all but well worth it. We don’t very often get to
visit with our son and daughter and their families at the same time.
